I'm looking for players because I am actually going to be running a game. I've thought long and hard before making this decision and decided that I believe I'm capable of running a truly unique game you won't forget.

My game will be high fantasy, high lethality, low magic, low power. Unlike D&D and its ilk where a high level player lines up dragons for the slaughter, you will be forced to actually face limitations like any other mortal. Realistically, even a mighty warrior or aged wizard would be unwilling to risk battle unnecessarily. Permanent injuries are a high price to pay for a little pride and excitement.

This will be a game where carelessly rushing into combat gets you killed. Where your moral decisions have often hard-to-foresee consequences. Where nations and cities are constantly interacting, whether you notice them or not, and your actions could influence the future.

I will give virtually no limitation to the possibilities in this game. You want to take some land and rule it? Be my guest. Want to slay a dragon? Fine by me. Just don't expect hand-holding. I merely control the world and the NPCs; you control your own fate.

The ruleset will be a variation of the One Roll Engine, a very simple, freeform friendly set with very minimalist stats. Dice rolls will very rarely be required except during situations where life and limb are at risk (ie combat), and even then an entire battle can be resolved in all of three dice rolls. You will literally need to roll only ONCE per round. Combat is designed to be quick, simple, and deadly so you can get the stats out of the way and get back to free form RP.

I will be hosting this game for 4-5 players. I have a simple expectation for my players: Be willing to put effort into making your character and the game enjoyable for everybody, and take it somewhat seriously. If your character is  Mary-Sue, don't expect to live long because I, and your fellow players, deserve the best roleplaying you can dish out.

Just so everybody knows, the 'primary' race of my campaign will be human, and there will be several regional races of humans. Other available races include elves, dwarves, and hobbits, but to be a non-human race I expect an above-average demonstration of roleplaying ability. Don't even THINK of being a furry unless you are prepared to write me a NOVEL for your background.

More details will come soon of the world setting and the rules, as I am still working it out. Currently it is set to be very low magic. I mean to the point where spellcasters make up less than 2% of the population, and a flaming sword would be an almost legendary discovery. This will not be a "Oh, gee, another Holy Avenger" setting.

Sounds like Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.

Im interested, sounds simple enough and plot driven to add some flare. I assume since the thread is not locked you have not found all your players,I would enjoy being one. If you would have me that is. But ya, If acceptable Id like to reserve a slot, a general time you would be running it also would be good information.

All interested please tell me what times you are available. I will probably aim to place it on the weekend at some time unless overwhelming consensus dictates otherwise.

Three of my friends have shown an interest in playing and we have tentatively agreed upon Sunday from late afternoon into the evening, EST. Exact times have yet to be determined but this should help those of you who are interested but unsure whether our schedules can sync up.

I would suggest a Proboards forum. They're free, give the admin much more control, have much more functionality for the users, and look nicer.
