09:35:58 Gazelle enters this room

09:36:43 Carnage enters this room

09:36:52 [Carnage] First person with their pants down gets a prize.

09:38:39 [Carnage] Look...It's Gazelle the cum-guzzler.

09:38:42 [Gazelle whispers to Czar] Pew?

09:38:49 Czar enters this room

09:38:50 >[Czar] Welcome to the Keep. Please try to be pleasant and polite. For more info, visit the forum.

09:38:59 [Gazelle] Damn Straight ¬_¬

09:39:04 [Czar] Carnage. Get the fuck away from her.

09:39:21 [Czar] Now.

09:39:36 [Carnage] That's okay Gazelle..I guzzled your boyfriend's cum last night.

09:39:55 [Gazelle] At least someone is ^.^

09:40:22 [Carnage] And I spit it back in his face.

09:40:55 [Czar whispers to Irrationalist] I'd appreciate it if you'd come to the Pub. Right now.

09:40:59 [Gazelle] He likes it, Im sure.

09:41:09 [Carnage] Oh yes, he told me.

09:41:42 [Carnage whispers to Czar] Right Czar. Wink

09:43:12 [Carnage whispers to Czar] You enjoy your cum in your mouth you dirty whore.

09:43:16 [Carnage] 09:43:12 [Carnage whispers to Czar] You enjoy your cum in your mouth you dirty whore.

09:43:32 [Czar whispers to Irrationalist] Where the fuck is the staff when you need them?!

09:43:46 [Czar whispers to Ambros] Nani?

09:43:48 [Gazelle whispers to Czar] -Sigh-

09:44:15 ~Jane enters this room

09:44:18 [Ambros whispers to Czar] Yeah. . they laid me off, and tried to get away without giving me unemployment.

09:44:28 ~Jane lifts a brow))

09:44:45 Carnage exits from this room

------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a case of OOC harrassment that has gone unchecked. I whispered to a Mod, as shown. I even tried to get their attention with a vulgar whisper.

In this, I have to say: I am NOT happy with what I've seen. THis is not the first time I've seen the mods not around at all.

So to this I have to say: Wake the hell up. This place is going to shit and you guys aren't around.

YOU guys volunteered for this. You knew of the responsibilities that this job entailed, and you took the job. So fucking do it.

As for your replies, because I know there will be many, to this, let me end it now: I don't care for your reasons on not being there.

I don't. Because in the end you guys are still the ones fucking up and not doing your job. You can curse me, scream at me, hell, even kick me out, but now I would like my voice to be heard.

Do your fucking jobs.

And if one person challenges me to take the role as a mod to "see how hard it is"?

History Lesson: I was one at one point. I did a damn fucking good job. I joined the NAVY, and had to disappear for like, six months? I fractured my hip, came back, and guess what I wasn't anymore.

It isn't that hard a job, I know what to do, and a twelve year old can do it. So I don't want your excuses.

I just want this place to pick the hell up. This shit didn't happen back in the day with Jade and Amyness. This place was awesome back then.

Now this place is a joke, and I'm not laughing.

Even if you managed to get the attention of Irrationalist, he probably would have given some twisted interpretation of The Keep's AUP hat conveniently results in him not having to do anything. Not that you were completely innocent in this case, either.

Here's a thought: Irrationalist isn't sitting as his computer babysitting tK, he's probably out working at a real job. This is a good thing. I would prefer he does not starve to death.

He left himself logged in so there would be a mod presence, which is a very nice thing of him to do.

No no, Czar's got a point.  We need to hook these mods up to IVs and have them sit at the PC 24/7, less another TERRIBLE event like this happen.

Besides, it's not as if you can actually use the /ignore function, morons, no one in their right mind would use that.

Lo and behold. The usual names come running to the mods defense.

Look, You've got one mod looking over the place, he's gotta work? HIRE MORE FUCKING MODS.

As for rule one and ten? Seek the justice upon me. I don't give a shit. At least then you'd be doing some fucking progress.

That log shows some pretty nasty conduct on Carnage's part. What was Carnage's problem? Logs like that are one of the reasons I'm not keen on getting into RPing here. I used to want to but I was turned off by the floods of viciousness that erupt around here on a regular basis.

Here's a tip.

Log the transgression.

Send it to www.theunderkeep.com's abuse reporting form.

Simple as that. What Webster said is true. Sometimes even a mod presence that isn't actually there can help discourage things. At the very least, you send in a log, you use the ignore command, that's what it's there for. The staff get the logs in emails. They read them. they take appropriate action. Whether you see it or not.

The staff have VOLUNTEERED ( as in, it's NOT a job, they don't get paid for it, AT ALL. They don't get thanks either. They get sycophantic suckups who are just as quick to turn on them when they don't get their own way, but that doesn't count.), to take action against people breaking the rules willfully and deliberately.

They are not here to change your diapers.

Here's a thought: If there's mods not doing their jobs here, what's that tell me about their justice system after that?

Call me provacative, call me whatever you like, but know that I am not stupid, and before hand I will tell you I'm not a jerk. I just grew up on this site and the way I see it is that I'm protecting something I honestly care about. A mod to me should have no better reason than that.

Then again, that's just me.

Make no mistake, I'm very angry in your performances. But yelling at you all doesn't work, you just turn on your egos. Maybe somewhere in my ranting I just realized that. But whatever.

You guys can let the chat rot, then.

You do that. I'll watch quietly now. Just thought I'd let my voice be heard. Clearly, similiar to me, you don't care.

And within every answer I get hereafter, I challenge someone to tell me different. To tell me how they're making this chat a better place.

I don't see it. I should be.

Granted, you're not getting paid. So? This place is a hobby. It should be its own reward. That means to make it better, certain things have to be made sure of, like, oh, I don't know....making the community a pleasant one?

No matter which way you look at it, this business with neglecting the site is shameful. You took on the responsibilities, so man up to them.

How is that, in any way shape or form, too much to ask. If you want to blame someone for the site being the way it is, blame yourselves.

How could you let this happen? If she does it to one person she'll do it to more. Then what happens after that? She chases off a good portion of the userbase because you chose to respond at your leisure.

The point of the matter is is that if you can't do the jobs, go find someone else.

Use... the fucking... ignore... function.  I mean, holy fucking shit, it takes two seconds of your god damn time.  If the user realizes he's been ignored (it'd be best NOT to tell the person when you ignore them), and logs onto another char and starts harassing you, then you can whine and complain to a mod because that's abuse that can't simply be shrugged off.

Christ man, you don't have to get up in someone's face to start an argument when you have the ability to simply deny them any say in your little internet universe.  This ain't a middle school playground, or some ghetto where you need to protect your friends and your rep and start fights over mom jokes.

Edit: Honestly though, your argument would probably have had much more impact if it didn't start with bitching about a mod being afk.

Because we really have a long list of people for mod positions. Last I checked, the last mod election list was less people then I can count on both hands. That, and a good chunk, even as my friends, I wouldn't see doing well as mods.

Another big issue. You seem to be expecting to be treated to something you aren't entitled to. This is an entirely free chat service. You do not pay a dime outside of what you contribute via looking at the ads. You are entitled to nothing outside of what the staff feel they have the time, and charity to give. If you have such a big spaz, and feel like you deserve priority treatment, then either start paying up money to Webby, or else go elsewhere.

The community is perfectly pleasent. We have nigh over 200 people come in and out daily. I think that says well enough, considering the standards have no change for nearly a decade, that TK has been surviving well enough as its been. If anything our community has prospered, raising to higher and higher numbers. So I really doubt a few whiney people chased off by a pathetic troll is going to put a huge dent in things.

If you're so worried about the place being horrible, then contribute yourself. Tell whoever off, then ignore them, and encourage other people to handle problems rationaly, rather then expect our staff to babysit you. Which I might remind you, was never their damned job to begin with. The moderators job was expressly to remove malicious users, hackers, and to aid with any chat malfunctions. Its only recently, under the obnoxiously loud whines of certain people, that they've extended their duties to babysitting idiots who can't handle their own problems. I'm glad to see they've been doing this less and less. You lot certainly don't deserve it.

Take care of your damn stuff, or start paying for service. You don't have to stay though. Let the mods get on with their real lives, real job, and stop acting so selfish.

While Ignore is a wonderful function that gets massively underused for what it was intended, it's massively abused as a copout by the forum elite. The ignore is not an end-all problem solver for numerous reasons; the most obvious being that there are forms of harassment which the ignore function simply does not block out. For example, people entering and exiting rooms repeatedly to spam the panel. Or people simply logging on another name.

This becomes a big problem when moderators do not address these problems. In this case, fine - Irrationalist was at work and was not at his computer. However, there have been prior events where he showed downright unwillingness to perform his 'duties.' For example, the RP niche I help to manage came under great OOC attack at one point. When asked to intervene he stated - and I quote:

Quote from: Irrationalist
Unfortunately, user-created rooms aren't really covered by our rule system as far as protection goes.

That said, I understand his situation - he has a paying job to attend to. I can comprehend that. There is no reason to fall back on that strawman. But it does highlight the need of another mod who is there semi-regularly to handle stuff like this.

Again...Who?

*Squints* Can't see anyone raising their hands that are worthwhile. And anyone who is worthwhile get chewed up and spat out by the public when they DO do their job. Hows that for irony? Fucked if you do, fucked if you don't. And not an iota of thanks. No wonder nobody with common sense goes for the job. Its shitty. We're lucky to have anyone at all.

Its time the community started giving back a little, rather then make constant demands.

I'm quite sure that there are plenty of people willing to put in the time. How does The Keep spread the word when they hold auditions? I've been here for a year and have never heard anything about The Keep looking for moderators. Is it only something that the Forum Elite hear about? Well, then, that's the problem - the word is only getting out to an isolated few dozen (maybe) of whom most have already expressed that they hate everyone in The Keep and no longer give a damn.

Hell, I'd do it; and I would even sacrifice my time with Silvermoon to do it.

Everything has been on the forums. Which have been also pointed out in announcements that go chatwise via an Admin function. And yet nobody really pays attention.

Because nobody in the community really gives a damn. They just care about rping. Fact is, the trolls are rarer then people tend to make them out to be. People at least, are satisfied enough that there have never been major mass complaints. Most people share the "Elite" 's view. They ignore the problems, and get on with their lives. Just like you really have to do in anything in life.  Or they certainly don't go to great lengths to complain. In which its again, their problem. If there's such a massive problem with how the staff is acting, they should speak up. Not sit on their ass and let an apperently very tiny minority make demands for them.
We certainly aren't seeing a mass exodus of players, so it can't be that huge of a deal. And please don't say they're too afraid to speak up. Because thats just a bullshit excuse.

I think you aught to take a leaf out of their book. There's always gona be someone who wants to piss in your cheerios. You can make a big drama of it, or you can fulfill your purpose here, and just have fun. Or if the water is too hot, well I can only recommend getting out.

Holy shit Czar, I knew you were dumb, but damn son. Tone down the nerdrage a bit.

Point two, mod's aren't around 24/7. You waited a total of 3 minutes before flipping a shit because you didn't get a response. Wait a bit. Hell, I'm not a mod and I afk for 5 minutes here and there to get a drink and talk to someone in the house or take a step outside or something. Dizzam.

I'd like to put emphasis on that.

I'd also be curious, Baane, about the event you mentioned. I can be reached via PM, and would very much like logs or the equivalent; if the AUP needs to be adjusted in this manner, we'll certainly have a look.

Thank you.

LEAVE IRRAT ALOOOONE~!

The appropriate action would be to log it, send the log, then ignore the idiot if he's causing you distress. Ignore isn't an end-all solution, but I don't think it was intended to be, and it certainly doesn't have to be.

I've seen the mods take care of business and for the most part I have no complaints, but they're human and you're a big boy now.

Czar:Last person I thought I might be agreeing with, even if its only a semi agreement. Carnage is a bitch, prick, cunt and any number of other swear words or crude language I can scrounge up. I've had IC dealings with her in the past and can say honestly, her posts make me lol and cry inside at the same time. Anyway, as for the afformetioned moderator not being at his 'post' did you try a messenger? I think the mods all have them listed, SaintJ,Irr and Ezra I know do. Hazy and Cel did, but im not sure if there not on staff anymore, often times I can find Saint logged into his messenger and not on TK. Ignore would have been a viable solution to that issue. However at the same time, you said youve been a mod? How long ago? I hate to tell you but TK's maturity level has dropped dramatically over the years. If the mod had interrupted Carnage, she would have been in here screaming that you your friend wasnt banned for commenting back to her or something stupid like that. I guess the point of my post is to say, don't go so hard on the mods, not an easy job anymore, if it was once, great, now it is not. As for that, send it to the underkeep like someone suggested. Mods will get to it, I wish I had thought to save my logs, but Ive stopped now, just /ignore anyone who bugs me >.>.

Anywho, rant over. Theres cake and cookies in the lobby, please help yourselves ^.^

Can i just say the 'What the fuck is wrong with you Moderators' threads are old, and there are users who will defend someone trying to do you a fucking favor by  getting rid of as many rulebreakers as they can. They aren't Robots. We (And i say we because i used to be a Mod. No longer the case.) don't suddenly gain a  switch that we can press which allows us to go without sleep, food, water, or to not use the bathroom. We don't gain a switch that makes a antenna pop from the top out our heads and spin around looking for noobdanger.   And, guess what. We didn't get paid for it either, so no it's not his JOB, he's not OBLIGATED to be there. He's there, as are all the Mods, to help you WHEN THEY CAN. So save your whiny bullshit, you should have logged it and sent it into the abuse form if you couldn't get a hold of a Moderator THAT SECOND. Because God forbid he might have been looking away from the computer screen. Or. OMG maybe he went outside for some air instead of trying to work up his screen glare-tan.

And another thing. Speaking from experience. Moderating is not fucking easy. And from this little display, i can tell  you wouldn't last ten seconds.
