If John McCain wins this election, I'm moving to Canada. You think I'm kidding? I just sent off an inquiry to the consulate. I do not want to be here when the Handmaid's Tale becomes nonfiction.

You should probably worry more about having enough money to move, under either candidate, then being a huge whiney bitch.

Yeah, seriously. I remember in school some idiot kid said his entire family swore to move to France if George Bush was elected. Well he got elected TWICE and they're still here.

Talk your big talk. When you realize how much you'll have to sacrifice and how much your life will change moving to a different country, even one as close as Canada, you'll come crawling back.

Oh so true, oh so true.

I have a dream...  a dream where we round up all politicians make them listen to all the bs they spew,  until they want to vomit at the stench they create.

If your moving to Canada, come down west...we have lower taxes on things. Plus...were not the devils own kin, like the blasted easterners.  So ya, my advice..is west, Edmonton is great for housing right now too.

Doesn't Edmonton have the highest rent prices in all of Canada right now?

There's one flaw with that. This is the first time Cosira has made a thread on this subject.

What... this happens like... once every four years?

Yeah. It happens /far/ too often*.

Sid's just cranky because Rob's been cutting him off lately. Marital difficulties.

If you are actually thinking about this, you should visit this site and see if you tally up enough points to qualify as a skilled professional or whatnot:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/immigrate/skilled/assess/index.asp

If you qualify its probably the easiest way to get into Canada short of marrying some nice Canadian (Toah).

I typed and then deleted two paragraphs of criticism here. To summarize: If you're prepared to run away any time the political field tilts the way you don't like, you don't really deserve anything better.

If that were the case, I would have left eight years ago. My point here is this  - I do not think either of Bush's elections were legitimate. IF McCain/Palin get elected in the face of such clear Obama support (re: polls, election campaign donations, endorsements), then it will seem to me that the election system is broken/corrupted to the point that nothing I do matters. If the demigogs and power brokers are in THAT much control, then the fundamental nature of this country has taken a serious serious shift.

Having said that, I do think Obama will get elected. I hope so.

However, I appreciate your criticism. Bailing at the first sign of trouble is never a good idea.

Compelled in the same way that those of us that actually manage to like you to a degree feel compelled to say 'Fuck this guy and his shit moves' every time you, out of nowhere, go out of your way to be a complete turd?

This is tiresome.

I just moved into a two bedroom apartment.  I was gonna live there by myself but I could take a roommate.  It's in Nova Scotia, an hour south of Halifax.

I don't belive its the "highest" no. I admit it is rather high, but on the same hand theres alot more available and theres not nearly as much tax on everything. However last time I looked with any real interest, everything eastwards usually had a GST and another tax, both at about 7% so a 14% tax on everything almost.

Serious advice: don't move in with Von. He's creepy and will try to exert himself sexually. Or you'll have to listen to him masturbate.
