I've played this quite a bit at the other forum I attend, and out of curiosity I've decided to share it with this forum.

If you've ever played a mafia game, you already know how it works. If not, here is how:

Each round will consist of x contestants. Among them, there will be four Mafia, one Bodyguard, and one Detective. So there needs to be more than ten people playing. Each person's job will remain anonymous until that person is killed.

It goes Night Phase - Day Phase - Night Phase. During the Night Phase is when all the crime occurs. During the Day Phase, the citizens of the Keep choose one person to lynch by a majority vote. Double-lynching is disallowed for this round. Upon dying, the lynched individual's identity will be revealed.

This goes on until one of the following conditions are met:

- If the amount of Mafia members is equal to or greater than the amount of other contestants, the Mafia wins

- If all members of the Mafia are lynched, the mafia loses.

ROLES - Written up by the infamous SOJAMANIA

The Mafia
The Mafia is an uncreatively named band of people that have decided that they were tired of living within the realms of lawfulness. They have declared an all-out war on the Keep from the shadows of its gritty underbelly. It is rumored that this group numbers a mere four, yet their expertise at executing their plans in clandestine fashion has baffled the police and left the Citizens cowering in a paranoid heap. During every Night Phase, the Mafia will select one person to knock off this mortal coil.

The Citizens
These are the many, the everyday people of the Keep. They lead plain, unassuming lives, simply trying to get along in life. The last thing they need is some disgruntled band of upstarts forming their own gang and fucking up their nice mailboxes and Mexican-groomed lawns. Understandably, the Citizens are irritated and have since formed an alliance by which to take back the streets. During every Day Phase, the Citizens will vote upon someone whom they believe is a member of the Mafia and LYNCH them, if possible, in a Revolutionary War manner. The Citizens have affectionately named the oak tree from which they lynched the mayor for his inaction Benjamin.

The Detective
This grizzled veteran of crime solving has never done a serious investigation before. Mostly petty crimes and infidelity claims and package returns. But this is the bigtime. Like it or not, he or she has been pressed into service by circumstances. During the Night Phase, the Detective may choose one name to investigate. The Detective will learn the true identity of that individual. He or she may choose to share this information with anyone at his or her own risk.

The Bodyguard
A lover, not a fighter, the bodyguard nevertheless has a strong sense of morality. His or her purpose in the chaos that has arisen is to protect, not to hurt. During the Night Phase, the Bodyguard will select one individual to protect from Death. This person cannot be killed. The Bodyguard cannot protect him - or herself twice in a row, but, otherwise, may.

Cut-off date for Registration is this coming SATURDAY OR 25 people. Once the limit is reached or the date comes up, I'll send the roles via PM and start the official game thread.

Since we got at least five, I'll extend the deadline a few more days.

It's pretty fun, guys. I'll be writing up murder clues, too, btw. >_>

Okay.

I think I'll reduce the mafia to three and get rid of the Bodyguard.

That way the game's been somewhat evened. I don't think we're going to get many more.

Roles are being sent via PM. I'll have the thread up shortly. If you don't get any PM, you're a citizen.

Hopefully after the first game gets done it'll generate enough interest for a bigger group to get involved.

I'm thinking that, too.

Normally there's also a vigilante and prostitute.  Grin

4 mafia in 10 people seems ridiculous, personally. I've seen two-mafia gangs work pretty well.

And I'll look into joining the next game.

I vote that we all kill Sideus first, with the 'real guns' that Crysta will provide.

lol we should probably start sign-ups on the next game already. >_>; This time I definitely need double digits, but I guess it's good to give people a taste of how it works.

I'm used to games with 25+ people.

As for the guns. *Gives you all miniature squirt guns* Cheesy
