Alright, so, for myself, I find that positive anticipation of something, looking forward to it, makes me impatient about the now, wanting what's in the future.
Negative anticipation, dread, what-have-you, usually fills me with such negativity that I can't enjoy the now.
On the same note, I find that I prefer knowing what's coming next.
I was wondering if most of you have the same views, or differ somehow.
Mere curiosity.

It seems to me like this is just a case of 'I can't be satisfied with what I have."

When I anticipate something positive, it usually helps me enjoy the now more, makes me happy knowing something good is coming.

I prefer to know what's coming next so that I can enjoy the now rather than worrying over the future. Negative anticipation makes time go faster, positive makes it sluggish, and neither makes me discontent with now.

I used to have that problem. I no longer do.
The turning point was when I just learned to be patient and not worry about things we can't change. I do allow myself excitement when something is coming up, but I don't allow myself to think 'oh gods why can't it be NOW', because that just leads to longing for something I can't speed up, and impatience, and anxiety.
So I sit, I wait patiently. It will come, so there's no need to fret. Enjoy what you have, enjoy knowing the new is coming. If the new is bad, then enjoy what you have and know that if there is nothing that you can change about what comes, then well, can't worry about it. That just wastes time. There's far more constructive stuff you can be doing.

A lot of people nowadays don't seem to have any of that increasingly rare virtue known as patience.
I find that building patience is a slow process, and losing it is incredibly easy.
