I think Metallica is better than your favorite band! HAH!
The show last night was freaking awesome, they had lasers and colored fire and as always, badass performance, and I got a really cool shirt. And a mohawk.

Proove me wrong, since we dont have a thread to argue about music! (aside from the VG thread!)

PS, I know Metallica isn't exactly the best band in the world. But the show was awesome.

Good point.

I (intentionally) forgot about that album. But when you make 12 or so metal albums, I think you're allowed to be in therapy for at least one of them. =p

Besides, you didn't even tell me your favorite band!

I may have to put Nine Inch Nails.

Or perhaps Matthew Good Band. Or Tool. Or A Perfect Circle. But I guess NIN would be the main staple.

Seems like a good argument.

I wanted to go to their show in Tulsa a few nights ago. I missed out on seeing Metallica again.

Oh I love Tool and APC, Maynard's voice is killer, and the drums are too. Never got too much into Matt Good. Just never really listened to him that much. Some NIN stuff I like, but it never really caught with me.

Ever heard of Skinny Puppy? They're a Canadian industrial band that makes statements about animal abuse, as far as I understand. They're pretty cool!

It was quite awesome Aran, at least I really enjoyed it. I had good seats too. Have you ever seen them live?

I've everything by them, and been to a show. I like the later stuff, it's got a little something the earlier works just fail to achieve.

Go get NIN's latest. It's free, out there, on the official site. Then get back to me. : )

Yeah! I snatched it up already, you gave up the free goodies already. Wink
Unfortunately I haven't even unpacked it yet. I was tempted to get the high sample rate set and try cuttin' it up in ProTools, but I didn't. =p

Symphony X owns all.

Can't argue with ya 'cause I don't know 'em.

Iron Maiden is pretty cool, almost as good as Dragonforce.

But I'm a Video Game Music person. Call me an epic nerd but.. well I am, so what can I say.

See, I was gonna say Dragonforce as well, but only in the sarcastic, what the fuck are you thinking way.

I hate picking favorite bands. I bounce around so much, over all? The Who most likely. At the moment? Gogol Bordello.

See, Michael Romeo could play Dragonforce's solos LIVE (unlike Dragonforce), and do it with his eyes closed.  Seriously, he's done crazy solos live with Russel Allen covering his eyes.

I just enjoy it. Dragonforce and Iron Maiden are both up there when I'm feeling the need for that crazy crap. I seem to be getting a lot of flak from a lot of people for liking Dragonforce but screw all of you. Smiley

Oh yeah, same here. I don't even consider myself to have a 'favorite' band. I don't even have a favorite genre. I just play whatever makes me feel good on a given day. Usually I prefer video game music because, aside from the obvious familiarity of it, it provides a huge variety of genres and almost always has no lyrics. I really highly prefer non-lyrical music 90% of the time.

1) Disagree, Gui, I still feel the Downward Spiral has more to it than anything I've heard since.

2) My favorite band is so obscure it hasn't even formed yet, and by the time they have their third gig I'll hate them for selling out and getting too popular.

Dragonforce is okay to listen to every once in a while, but you can only listen to so many 7-minute songs with constant shredding, 200 bps double bass drums, containing the lyrics "so far away" before you burn out and think, "this shit sucks."

Iron Maiden isn't really even in the same subgenre. They have some crazy guitarwork in some songs, sure, but where they really shine is in their compositions as a band. Each member is just so talented that the result is some damn good music.

This is like a whole thread filled with shitty music, aside from the brief mentioning of The Who pretty much.

I'd probably pick Modest Mouse and Led Zeppelin as favorites.

The 'later stuff' comment was regarding Skinny Puppy. I'm a global fan of NIN and see it as an ensemble. : )

As a side note, I like how MOST people managed to point out their preference without feeling the pointless need to diss others' choices.

It's really hard to pick favorite bands for me.

The Beatles, Disturbed, Within Temptation, and Nightwish...

Godsmack, Collective Soul, and Journey...

My tastes are generally pretty diverse.
