This is a statment that was said to me and a friend. Now i sent him a wisper asking wtf? and he contued to insult me. Among otherthings, i have all of the wispers saved to my computer both mine and his. so if you would like to see them im glad to show you so could an admin please contact me thank you.

I was speaking to her at the time of the incident, and she was trying to simply ignore the person, but he kept sending unwanted whispers to her, and she was not really responding to them.. She is new to TK and is not familiar with the chat commands. It was her first day on TK. I remember my first day on here, I did not know the chat commands, nor did I know where to look to find them. I had asked many people and nobody helped me until a couple of days later. It does count as harassment if it is an unwanted action or usage of words, as that is how it is defined. It is not a person's fault if they do not know the commands in order to properly ignore a person. And when a person is just randomly whispering you nonstop, after being asked to stop, then I would classify that as harassment..

That's like me building a bomb and saying I didn't know it'd go off. Seriously, there's no reason she couldn't have opened the help menu, or asked someone. I'm sure a mod, or any user she was familiar with, would have pointed her to the ignore function if she'd asked.

It's classed as harassment when someone is deliberately circumventing the /ignore command by logging in under other names every time they're ignored, and also logging in other names to get around being banned from a user's room to harass the individual.

Also we're still just hearing one side of the story.

We have TWO LINES from a chat, not an entire log (no, don't post it here, it won't help your case). So there's no telling what other things were going on. Was that response incited in some way by the 'victim'? Was there back and forth insults? How do we know? Again I reiterate the statement I said before.

This is not a case of harassment. There are commands available, she should learn how to use them, and henceforth use them.

She said that after he left she sent him a whisper asking him WTF...if you don't want someone talking to you, why whisper them? He was gone, which is what everyone seems to have wanted. She continued the conversation, according to her.

I feel like people are being somewhat unhelpful and possibly even a little hostile here. So I'm going to buck my trend and actually be useful!

I know that it can be frustrating to be hassled by people in the chat, and it can certainly be unpleasant. Unfortunately, the moderation has to have a fairly high bar for 'Harassment'. You see, a lot of these matters end up being fairly complicated and two-sided; its not unusual for someone to get into an argument, trash-talk the hell out of someone, and then decide they aren't speaking to that person anymore. Then when their victim hits back, they want to call it harassment - you can see why only getting one side of an issue, or a snippet of a situation, can often be misleading. A lot of the time there is much more to the situation, and frequently provocation and instigation on both sides.

On top of that, having someone be an ass to you once isn't harassment - it really needs to be repeated behaviour. That doesn't mean it has to be constantly or every day, but it does have to be a pattern of attacks against you or other people.

So, if you feel that you are being harassed, here is what you do:

1) Tell the person in plain, clear language that you do not want anything more to do with them. IE, 'Steve, I do not want to speak with you. Please stop messaging me'. It's important that you don't insult or berate the person, because that is provocation.

2) If they continue to bother you, do not respond, or respond with the above line again. IE, 'Steve, I asked you to leave me alone. Don't keep bothering me'.

3) Use mechanics to protect yourself. The command '/IGNORE [Username]' will remove that persons posts from your screen. Take action!

4) It is important that you document all of this! The first time, and every time, you tell someone to leave you alone, log that ENTIRE chat - not just your one line. Save these somewhere you can access them. If you '/ignore' someone and they try to get around it - reregistering under a new handle, hassling other people in the room with you, etc - record that as well.

5) Present your documentation to the moderation, using the submission form. If you can send in a series of logs showing you trying to get this person to leave you alone, and them ignoring it, then you are very likely to get some sort of response. Without documentation or real information, the mods are stuck with a he-says-she-says situation that is very tricky to address.
