Let's start things off with a bang, shall we? (sarcasm)

I've been RPing for a VERY long time. Not on here, mind you, I only joined TK in February.

I've seen some fairly ridiculous abilities before....but this one tops them all.

Anyone ever encountered a Half-Dhampir/Half-Wraith who transmutates into a Werewolf at the light of Noon, and to a Vampyre at the full moon's light, But under the New Moon, it then, once more, takes the embodiment of a Fae?

I have...and I like....well to put it in the simplest terms (politically correct or not) thought it was the most retarded things I've ever seen....

Aside from that, I'd like to know what some of the more....well let's just go with less impressive, abilities or character formats our TK resident's have come across.

Anything particularly interesting?

Silvermoon Kingdom tends to get a lot of faggotry by default. Usually I'm very tolerant to this sort of thing, but there are some things I just find obnoxious. Lately, going off the top of my head:

1) A Star Wars/Lilo and Stitch crossover of Stitch flying the Millennium Falcon and having Jedi force powers.

2) Obese dragon characters with so much flabby mass that they replace the black hole theorized to exist in the center of our galaxy. His character was such a complete lard-mass that it generated its own galaxy-spanning gravitational field that held the entire Keep together, so it's profile said. But of course it could shpe shift and change sizes at will so as to interact with everyone.

3) Mesiphidon and his 'magi' metaphysical system. Magi, defined as the 'definition of existence,' is an omnipresent force that surrounds us, permeates us, and binds the universe together. However, because he dropped the 'c,' its not magic and so antimagic countermeasures can't defend against this force that ultimately allows his character to do anything he wants, whenever he wants. The only thing it can't do, apparently, is talk people into accepting his bullshit on his periodic and misguided campaigns to stir up conflict in The Keep.

4) A while ago I ran into some Naruto characters who had mastered chakra and jutsu to the point that they were superior at everything to everyone in the show simultaneously.

5) The first invasion the Silvermoon Kingdom suffered (in TK) was actually an NPC invasion wherein one 'general' character was leading an army. In this case, the opposing army just kind of popped up right outside of the palace (most of them do) and started to lay siege to it with catapults. At the time I had SMK set to a 17th century tech level, so we returned fire with a local battery of black powder cannon. So his catapults, in response, transformed into fully tracked armored fighting vehicles and fought the rest of the battle as tanks.

I'm not even scratching the surface, and I'm sure SMK has seen things twice as bad. I just can't immediately remember.

What about the wizard guy that has the ability to morph into the dragon god, Bahumut, thinks any sort of technology involving lasers can destroy Buu, and as well, has insight to EVERYthing ing the whole universe because he's rich. Oh, did I mention that he has a city entirely capable of deterring any sort of power or advantage from anyone at any given time, but in no way affects its inhabitants whatsoever.

If you're talking about Ghost (can't type the actual screen name - it uses asinine characters) then I really can't single out a single 'power' as ridiculous on his part. His satellite network over TK as an excuse for rampant metagaming is annoying, yeah, but his only real offensive 'attack' I've seen is his stupid glass-tipped alkaline bullet wherein the warhead contains an ounce of moisture which shatters on contact with the object and then drenches the sodium portion of the projectile.

This is creative and all but he has a poor grasp of the actual chemistry behind alkaline metals. I normally wouldn't hold science against people seeing as how I prefer the arcane and the mystical, but when he presents himself as an intellectual authority over everyone else he should expect critiq.

But yeah, again, I don't recall anything too powerful coming out of him.

You'd probably enjoy the follow-up, then.

First you need to understand that this army which he chose to invade with was consisting of demons, trolls, giants, and all sorts of high fantasy evilness armed with your stereotypical armaments for such a force. Axes, shields, serrated swords, all that good stuff. He was eventually defeated and was sent into a retreat.

He comes back a month later and his surviving middle-age cohorts had apparently been retrained with machine guns, howitzers, gunships, and the like.

What terrible lack of creativity. If he's got medieval style troops and fantasy monsters and demons, how hard would it be for him to come up with something that could defeat black powder cannons without being retarded about it? Dragon knights, demons, stealthy invisible wizards, and masses of re-animating skeletons would all be more than a challenge to an average army equipped with sabers, muskets, and cannons, without sounding like the product of Stephanie Meyers.

More to the point, Trebuchets were more than a match for gunpowder for nearly five hundred years after the first cannon. Given that they could hurl stone nearly a quarter of a kilometer away, that modern reconstructions show the largest were capable of hurling a thousand kilograms of mass against a wall, and that a well-trained crew can fire off a series of shots with an accuracy of about +/-3 meters (from 180 metres away), this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise.

It took a considerable amount of refinement to get the cannon 1) accurate 2) fast and 3) powerful enough to displace more traditional siege weaponry.

So honestly, he could have continued the fight with trebuchets, trenches filled with archers, dead cattle, and french insults.

The silvermoon setting has always been a cluster-mess as to what time period we want to represent, and it's just made harder when you have stupid shit like 21st century armies marching on 17th century ones. The war salvage from these battles set into motion the 'steampunk era' of SMK and we're finally starting to pull out of it, thank god.

There was once this guy who was capable of transforming into a, quote, forty-thousand foot dragon tail to snout.

Now, that doesn't sound like much until you realize that's roughly eight miles. His head would have been in the stratosphere.

This was so long ago that I forget the name, thus debunking the theory that only newfags do these things. I know this is a magic realm where anything is technically feasible, BUT COME ON. Suspension of disbelief and all.

Yeah, most of those obscenely large dragon characters were played by the same guy.

He had a character that was a shameless male counterpart to Raven right down to the clothing, powers, words, etc that was running around with that dragon from that one episode of Teen Titans. He played Kael'thas of Warcraft continuity, but this one was companions with an obscenely lard ass dragon who he carefully described in his posts as a 'cuddling' dragon capable of mating with anything and producing offspring. There were numerous colossal dragon characters using his photobucket account.

I had my suspicions that this was some sort of weird furry fetish on his part, but I really tried not to think about it. Then I was dumb enough to go to one of his characters' websites, and he had galleries of stuff he made.

Normally I would have screamed "Yiff in hell!" but I was too shocked at what I saw.

Well no shit, Sherlock. What was your first clue  Roll Eyes

No seriosuly this entire thread is why I don't rp in the keep any more. I sort of gave up when I realised what a horrid little place this could be for creativity. Honestly I've seen it utterly sap the creative urges, and indeed any sort of imagination out of me.

When I started to realise that, I put my efforts into structured roleplay in real life, on tabletop, with rule systems, and my writing again, and I almost instantly found my creativity and intelligence increasing quite dramatically.

The only reason I ever come to tK any more is just to socialise and joke around with people in the OOC Lobby. Fun without having to put effort in.

It's less the people, and more the very NATURE of the place.

I'm halfway sure you're both joking, but if you want to be dramaqueens about it, I won't feel guilty. My point stands, this place does me no favours because creating a well thought out character with a deep backstory is a waste of time, because the fact that there is no limits, and no structure, means that most of the people I'll meet on here will be rampant powergamers out to etiher kill things for 'bragging rights' or will want to sleep with my character.

The roleplays will be generally be simple 'oh i'm dating this guy now i'm evil and dating this girl and now i'm good again and dating this girl and this guy' or 'raaaar i am the ultimate lol i kil u w/blkhoel gunrofl'.

And I no longer feel like filtering through the six thousand metric tons of dross just to find the small shining gems.

Like I get any time to roleplay on this site any more anyway.
