It's less the people, and more the very NATURE of the place.

I'm halfway sure you're both joking, but if you want to be dramaqueens about it, I won't feel guilty. My point stands, this place does me no favours because creating a well thought out character with a deep backstory is a waste of time, because the fact that there is no limits, and no structure, means that most of the people I'll meet on here will be rampant powergamers out to etiher kill things for 'bragging rights' or will want to sleep with my character.

The roleplays will be generally be simple 'oh i'm dating this guy now i'm evil and dating this girl and now i'm good again and dating this girl and this guy' or 'raaaar i am the ultimate lol i kil u w/blkhoel gunrofl'.

And I no longer feel like filtering through the six thousand metric tons of dross just to find the small shining gems.

Like I get any time to roleplay on this site any more anyway.

I figured maybe this would be an appropriate thread to post this one in.. wrote this a while ago simply for fun so if any of this applies to you, don't be offended. So now, without any further adieu..

"RP Things I can do without"

A character who was the last survivor of a massacre on their village/town/city by a group of angry werewolves/vampires/orcs/etc.

Sheltered princesses who wish to see the world for themselves.

Any combination of angel, demon, god, and human.

Vampire characters in general who have all the strengths and none of the weaknesses.

Good-aligned Drow.

Teenage characters who are masters of multiple disciplines or are generals of an entire army

Anyone with a "Power level" listed in their RP profile.

Anyone with more than two "forms"

Anyone with more than one "theme song"

People who write (or macro) a 4 paragraph entrance for their character, only to leave by the next post.

Supposed "RPers" who never seem to RP, only talk OOC while everyone else is trying to.

Copycats, Plagiarists, and Wanna-be's.

Anyone who "appears 21"

Characters who are immortal beings of immense power and wisdom - that have nothing better to do then sit around in a common tavern.

People who constantly and repeatedly alter significant aspects of their character, so when you meet them twice they are completely different and not really even the same person.

Anyone who views RP as a competition or contest.

Superfluous and long-winded posts that take four or five paragraphs to say what can easily be said in one. When will you people realize that quantity does not equal quality?

People who attempt (and fail miserably) at OOC deception. I'm referring to someone unpopular trying to masquerade as a new character. As if I am actually dumb enough to fall for it.

Anyone who believes that having an RP character for a certain length of time (be it a year, five years, whatever) gives them license to god-mode.

People who play pre-existing characters (from movies, books, etc.) BADLY and completely bastardize the original work.

Characters who constantly insta-cast powerful spells/abilities but never seem to fatigue or run out of energy.

Any character that goes from "almost dead" to completely healed within a day (or even an hour!).

Characters who simply wander into an RP scenario "by accident".

Unwanted suggestions of how the RP ought to be run, especially by strangers. You'd think that after a year I'd have it down, no?

"Half" Vampires (except for the ones I chop in half).

People who play evil characters and are surprised when they are treated badly by good ones, and vice versa.

Characters that seem to know every spell, even from opposing schools and can cast them instantly even in combat

Characters with no weaknesses or flaws.

Player-created races with very loosely defined abilities that are used as sort of a palette for anything the player feels like doing.

Anyone who actually uses a thesaurus to RP.

People who actually bother to list D&D stats in their profiles, all of which are at least 15-20. Seriously, you might as well just say "I'm invincible." And yes, we all believe that you really made those rolls, riiiiight.

Characters who are always smiling, grinning, and smirking at completely inappropriate times. Wipe that shit-eating grin off your face, for real!

Characters that survive a massive battle without so much as a scratch or injury or a dent in their armor.

Anyone who "doesn't like the rules" of a particular RP. Go someplace else!

People whose roleplay is done solely to disrupt the roleplay of others.

Anyone who deliberately misspells words.

Characters performing insane/illegal/impossible deeds with utter lack of consequences (Viva la DM!)

Characters who perform very difficult deeds without fail, every time. (Viva la Dice rolls!)

Characters who "suddenly" develop an accent, and Characters with unreadable accent. Yes, I understand your character speaks with an accent "Stupid accents make me wan' tae smack you through yer 'ead".. SERIOUSLY... Talking like this does not make you a good RPer, it's just annoying

Children with speech impediments as RP characters.

Furries, in general.

People who bug me about joining the RP, and upon being told they must be tested first to prove their dedication and integrity are never seen again. This also applies to people who make a big scene, only to never return. Thanks for wasting everyone's time.

Slaves with no interest in being free.

Anybody who frequents "The Pub".

Players who enter an RP and post their character just sitting around, with a post every once in awhile stating that their character is there... Not interacting with anybody, of course. Just "watching".

Any player who purports their player to be absolutely the best at something 100% of the time. (i.e. my character can never be defeated in a swordfight, etc.)

Before anybody complains, I wrote this for fun. It is not to be interpreted as a personal attack or insult on anybody,and it's only for laughs and to maybe give you all something to think about.

People who come into the channel wounded/dying and obviously in need of attention

Nothing has ever changed. Nothing. I bet the proportions of bad characters:decent characters has stayed the same. The only thing that has changed at all are the server owners and the amount of users. All these problems people list have been around the chat forever.

In my defense I know precisely why I am only having a problem with tK nowadays.

The reason?

I grew up, came out of my shell, got a social life, found very close friends in the real world, no tjust on the net, and moved out of my parents house. That helped me get over several key issues I had with my life.
