Inquisitor Unthrinn, the following is my account of our mission on Iocanthos. Please forgive my brevity, as I mostly had to write it while under attack by something. I hate this planet.

On the way down from the Brazen Sky, most of the acolytes vomited everywhere. Then, traveling through the town where we landed, Port Suffering, we manhandled a naked old man, fought several native Ashleen, and then the psyker mind-fried everything in rather a large radius.

Then we met Aristarchus. He was a nice guy. Didn't get mad about the... the... mindfrying or anything. Gave us food and money. Drove us to Stern Hope afterward. There was a weird-ass zombie guy with no eyes on the way. He just kinda fell over when we gave him a poke. We also saw a marking that was supposed to be something of Saint Drusus'. Aristarchus started acting oddly about then.

We got to Stern Hope some time after this, and were greeted by Brother Severus. He was snooty. Heh. Also met Brother Lamark - good man. Shame what happened. Met Abbot Skae a little later, as well - far too cheerful, didn't seem to have a clue about whether or not other people liked the Cathedral or not. Found out why later.

Aristarchus got worse, and we asked around town about the disturbances. Ended up heading out of town, into the hills. Fought a creature with a long, barbed tongue. Nearly killed the psyker. Turns out it'd been dead. No eyes. Went back to town.

Aristarchus got even worse. Kos'ke and the Death Singer arrived in town. Big hullabaloo about that. Then the town got attacked by Voicers. The psyker turned a few of them into chunky salsa with a well-thrown axe. Omega got shot in the head. I'm buying her a helmet one of these days. Killed some more Voicers. Then Aristarchus pissed off Esha Raine, so she and Kos'Ke left. Found out about Aristarchus and Skae doing some kind of weird ritual.

Got sent to arrest Esha Raine. Or kill her. Whichever worked. Got attacked by shale crows. Took a nasty slash across the face. Esha Raine told us about some legend or other - "The Crow Father fears the damage he most loves dealing," or something. Obvious: Blind the bastard. [Crow Father > SHale Crow > Shale Crow eats eyes, has none > Crow Father fears losing eyes.].

Returned to town. Most of the people committed suicide. Brother Lamark died in front of us. Bound his eyes so he wouldn't lose them to the crows. Went to the Cathedral, found some living ones, but forced to do some kind of chant. I froze up. Then I got pissed.

Then the Crow Father broke my knee, and made it completely impossible to continue fighting. Didn't have a chance to tell everyone else to blind it. But they ain't stupid. Was sure they already knew.

They didn't, as I later found out. Even the scholar. Therefore...

I am a genius.

Honorable Inquisitor Unthrinn,

What follows is the account of the mission on Iocanthos from Acolyte Ophilia Galatia.

Time spent on the Brazen Sky was used in getting to know the rest of the group, so that they might be more cohesive, and questioning the attendant about the planet, mainly reguarding the Fire Flower. He expressed an oddity in our coming, saying, in short, that no one ever came to Iocanthos. There was nothing there to hold them to such a derelick, backwater planet.

The landing on the surface tossed more than one stomach, but there were no injuries, and the landing was a success.

The group first encountered the Ashleen after a run in with a raving, naked man whom no one could understand. He was moved asside, which apparently offended the other Ashleen, spuring them to attack. I was worst for wear, but as you can see, I've recovered. Unfortunately the psyker did manage to take out a good many innocents with a blast of lightning from the clouds. We are afraid to report the people there are not very happy with us.

We connected with Aristarchus, whom leaded us his healing power before setting us to the market before our trip to Stern Hope. He drove us the entire way to Stern Hope. We were well supplied with food and water on the trip. However, in the night were were watched by the eyeless Shale Crows, and visited by an already dead Ashleen. Aristarchus seemed uniquely uneffected by the horror. I don't think i'll ever forget it. Also along the way, we investigated a psychic disturbance  only to fine a newly burned symbol of Saint Drusus. Amazing.

Stern Hope welcomed us at night. We were received well, and set up in the local inn.

The next day we met with Abbot Skae, and Brothers Lamark and Severus. Aristarchus was ill. There was a brief conversation, and after attempting to question the general population once again, we set up to the hills, were strange lights had been seen. There we found, and defeated a massive creature. It threatened to end Krael before it was brought down. It too, like the Ashleen, was already dead, eyes pecked out by Shale Crows.

Another day passed, and the Death Singer Esha Raine, holy woman to the natice Ashleen, and Kos'ke, an Ashleen general, came to town with Ashleen troops. Aristarchus was ill again, and joined us only just before Stern Hope was attacked, leading to my suspicion of him. The attackers were Voicers. Suicide Bombers were prevented from entering the temple, the commander was eliminated, and the generators were defended. After taking a blow to the head with an axe, I was out cold. Further description of this encounter will have to be with the other reports. We were, in the end, victorious, however.

Upon entering the Temple again, found Skae and Aristarchus and Esha Raine and Kos'ke watching a Voicer rambling with words not his own, possessed by something. Aristarchus killed the Voicer, and accused Esha Raine of the menaces plaguing the temple. She claimed innocents, and called for the pair to see what the were missing. She left Stern Hope. We were ordered to arrest her.

While disobeying a direct order from Aristarchus, I believe our choice was for the best. We visited Esha Raine and Kos'ke in their village. They, and we, were attacked by Shale Crows, spurned on by something. Our group can through fine. The Ashleen had more casualties. We discussed the happenings at the temple, at which time Esha Raine handed over a book in High Gothic, telling of the 'Crow Father', an ancient evil sent to rest by Saint Drusus in the very spot were the temple was being build. This was the cause of the happenings at the temple, and upon returning to the Temple, its power was well seen.

The Temple was filled with possessed villagers. The rest of the group seemed extremely frightened. The Priest fled completely, and the void-born was so overcome by tears she did not recover until the end of the encounter. The others were shaken, and I feared I'd be alone in trying to end this. I first attempted to talk Aristarchus, who was casting something with his cards, out of assisting Skae, to no avail.

Skae removed Stubber's legs, and removed him from the encounter completely. After discovering that bullets and melee weapons bounced of him, The assassin put the clues together first, and went for the eyes. The monster was eliminated after both were gutted from him. Unfortunately the effect of this destroyed the roof of the Temple. The people, however, were freed.

I believe this Crow Father tricked the Abbot Skae and Aristarchus into thinking they were resurrecting a Saint, and used them to its own evil ends.

End Report.
