Moondog recently was given trial moderator powers in the public, keep-owned rooms. As a moderator, you have had a few weeks to evaluate how well he performs in that role. Like all potential staff members, trial staff are given a poll to determine how well they are performing, and we ask the users to evaluate them and vote on whether they should become a Global Moderators.

Global Moderators have power in all public rooms, including user-made ones.

Do you believe he should be a Global Moderator?

Please vote accordingly.

So....when does someone -not- from the close knit circle of friends in the OOC lobby get to rally-up for mod status?  :/

I'm noticing a theme here. Probably makes me sound like an asshole, but whatever.

I've noticed that too. We applied to have someone from MH become a Mod for MH, months ago, and have gotten no response. >_>

First of all, Moondog is hardly a "nooblet",  second of all,  he is active in RP.
What would really be a shock, is if you actually  y'know.  Interacted and observed him, before passing judgement on his abilities as a mod.

Regardless of who, or how staff is added to the chat,  there is always some person or group, that doesn't like it, and is going to get whiny, bratty, and loud about it.   It wasn't their friend, it wasn't someone from their clique,  they're going to rant rave and cry about it.
All I have to say to that is,
Suck it up, Buttercups.

Moondog seems fairly competent to me. Votan' Yes.

Can we please not turn this into a  Lobby vs. Mainhall debate?  I'm not saying the whole MH modship concern isn't a legitimate one.. just, wouldn't it be more prudent to make a separate thread on this issue rather than potentially start a grudgewank here?

(P.S., I would totally vote for Atheism if he was put up for moderation.. awww yeah! Vote Lovecraftian spaceslug in '10.)

I agree with you Science. Hall/vs Lobby politics aside. It's funny what one website can do to the mentality of everybody as a whole, and no, nobody is safe from it.

That's a pretty unfair statement Ker. They're all raising some valid concerns. Election into modhood does appear to be seriously clique-ish, and while I can't vouch for the character of most MHers or even a lot of other members of the community, it would be nice to see someone different. I nearly jumped at the idea of Pitch because she seems to be experienced, grounded, and pretty cool.

So really, it's not about people ranting, raving and crying about it---the mods really seem to represent a small bit of the community to me.
You have to remember, not everyone is an insider like you.

Given that I have been through every way that staff has come up with to add mods over the years,  and the people that were chosen as a result of such,  I can say that it IS a fair statement.  Regardless of how staff were added,  people ALWAYS come back with the same thing. Every time.

While you've been bickering here, I've been setting them up with a Mainhall mod or two.

Just saying. Carry on.

Thank you Rook. And now I'm putting in a yes vote. I've only seen Moon in action once but the experience was positive with general politeness and whatnot.

It's because I'm actually trying to gain your trust so I can join your party as a hilariously overpowered additional character for a short period of time, then betray you at a plot-crucial moment that you saw coming a mile away, to set up the amazing pre-end boss fight that is incredibly difficult to the point where it completely overshadows the end boss.

Additionally: The 'MainHall vs OOC Lobby' mind-set is stupid. Both rooms have their good points, both rooms have their flaws. This thread, however, is not the place for grievances (real or imagined) to be aired.

I agree with Rook's decision to set up some moderators in the MainHall, and hope they do well. : )

Hm.  I don't know where I stand really.  All I know is that one more moderator for any room or 1-2 selected for the MH will not make any outstanding differences that ones in the past have made before.  I wish whoever gets that title though luck.  They'll be followed by a bit of scrutiny, naturally, but that's what happens.  I saw how several people turned on Snew with a quickness, and she jumps back and forth to both rooms.  Whatever the popularity contest may be, you'll get both support and negative feedback with another mod.  I feel like I'm being forced to care, but yea, I guess I could care less, as long as the person does not abuse their power...can anyone really promise that though?

There's about four people insisting that there really is a meaningful difference between the Main Hall and the Lobby, which there isn't. It's the people who are different, but let's not forget that half of the lobby crowd was originally MainHall people.
