It's the late 1800s, the twentieth century is drawing nigh and things are as they should be and in New York State, American adventurer Walter Melville is laying in his death bed after a life of successful adventures and a rather unsuccessful battle with malaria.

Mister Melville's life will never be publicized in any grand retelling, but this man had dedicated the whole of his life to battling threats to the stability of the world. He worked to prevent cataclysms, to maintain order between the paranormal, the super sciences, the extraterrestrial and the world as a whole. With his life drawing to a close and the knowledge that there needs to be something to stem the tide of the strange and unknown from flooding into the world of the mundane he summons a group of men and women from all over the world; men and women who had either great knowledge or impressive skills to take up the fight in his coming absence.

These people are tasked with traveling the world and putting themselves in all sorts of misadventure and adventure alike to keep the world's population safe from ghosts, magic, far too advanced sciences, demons, monsters and aliens. Anything they deem to be a threat must be faced and stopped.

The kinds of characters for this group are going to be fairly diverse. Mind, we're not talking about people who have special powers, but rather a skilled individual who is a specialist in their field. I'll offer a few character concepts I'm eager to see as well as what I believe will be in the game to begin with to offer up a frame of reference.

People along the lines of a great detective (Sherlock Holmes), a brilliant scientist (Tesla or Thomas Edison), a masterfully skilled pilot (Lindbergh or Earhart), a world traveling explorer (Indiana Jone or Doctor Livingstone) are the archetypes we're hoping for insofar as those who'd be a part of this group. This is just a small list of things I would be excited to see, but there are almost no limitations on what would be acceptable.

Thus far, for certain, we have a stage magician and a prototype automaton.

If one wishes to be an antagonist to the group, there is a bit more of an opportunity for power grabs. Wizards, men of science who have advanced technology at their disposal, leaders of military powers looking for conquest, a small alien invasion force. Anything, ultimately, can work.

For "villains," we currently have a time traveling tyrant.

To get this to run at the top of the screen again, you're gonna need to delete the thread and repost it.

I'm an Ombudsman. I investigate; I only very rarely legislate (and only in a committee, no man is an island and all that).
