I'm a user of the website DeviantArt, and I know a lot of other players on TK are too. I've met quite a few RPers who are also artists or writers of literature and poetry, and many of them have DA accounts as well. In fact, many of us already watch each other on DA.
What I'm asking, is that if an offical DeviantArt group for Keepers was made, would you guys join it? It's a good way of seeing what other people are doing and getting your own work seen without having to watch people. Plus, it'd add another facet to the TK community.
For those of you who don't know what a group is, here's DA's FAQ explanation:
Groups is deviantART's latest technological creation. With Groups, every deviant can make or join a group of deviants that are bonded by a common interest or passion.
Whether you want to start your own group, or simply join a group, Groups will surely enhance your deviantART experience. When you make a group, you get the perks that a manager of any organization would have: you establish the group's mission and lead its charge by recruiting an administrative class and setting member privileges. When you join a group, you build friends and better your art with deviants that hold the same interests and passions as you.
I'm volunteering to create the group and would want other TKers to be co-admins as well. I'm fairly active on DeviantArt (I check in multiple times a day), so I'll always be around to help run things. I know there are many other TKers who are active DA users too, so if you're interested in this idea, please speak up and let me know what you think! There would be no ban/exclusion prejudice as long as users aren't disruptive (IE: trolls and spam) and abide by DeviantArt's site rules (remember, that site has its own admins to enforce their rules). This group would be open to ALL TKer's, even the unpopular ones. The group's purpose would be to provide artistic feedback, advice, and helpful criticism to its members among other things.
Note: This is primarily aimed at TKers who already use DA, or those who might want to join it as a result of the formation of this group. If you guys have nothing to do with that website and don't like this idea, please be restrained with your whining (Keepcon thread, anyone?)

I'd join. I use DA quite a bit, but not as much as I would like. Maybe this would garner my attention and inspire me to use it more. I'd be a co-admin and help out, if you liked.

I've got some pretty good feedback here, on the OOC boards, and in chat, so I hope it's not premature of me to go ahead with the group application process on DeviantArt. Here's where we're at: Your request for #The-Keep is still in review Group Information Group Name: #The-Keep Group Type: Basic Location: Global Group Focus: Common Interest About Us: This group is for users of [link] Artists, writers, and role players alike. Important You will not be able to apply for a new group until this application is either approved or declined. Your group request history Jan 3, 2011: #The-Keep - In Review If we're approved, I've got a group icon ready. This can be changed later (I assume). Maybe we could even hold a contest to design the group icon? It's just a thought. Also, I'd like to hear what the mods and staff think of this, since it also might be a way to attract new users to TK through exposure on DeviantArt. Thank you everyone so far! I've had an offer from another user to help run the group, and it'd be cool if there were more volunteers.

*raises hand* I'd help run it. I don't really have that much other stuff to tangle with, at the moment.

It's official! Congratulations! Your request to make #The-Keep a group has been Accepted. Accepted You are now the proud Founder of #The-Keep, the newest member of our Groups family. You're home! Start your Groups experience right now or check your Application Details page. We're a group!! http://the-keep.deviantart.com/I'll be inviting those of you whose DA accounts I already know, and anyone interested in joining, please visit the page and do so! You do need to be a registered member of DeviantArt to be a member of the group, but joining DA is free, and you don't even need to submit work or art to have an account there. DA has its own set of rules and its own moderators, so to anyone not familiar with the site, it might be an idea to read up on DA's policies before submitting work. Remember also, this group isn't just for visual artists! This is for our writers and poets as well, and even if you don't submit anything creative yourself, you can still join the group to be kept up to date, as well as comment on other people's work, collect favourites, and be a part of the community. Let's make this a positive thing, everyone, and enjoy each other's creativity! I'll be getting in touch with those of you who volunteered to help run it, and if anyone else would like to help, please contact me here or on DA! (Furr, I already have your DA account! SnoobieSnooch, let me know yours so I can invite you to be co-founders.)

As of now, I want absolutely no involvement with this.
:[ If you guys respost any requests I've done for you on your pages, please don't link them back to this site/group, I really don't want to have any connection with this.

Can I ask what your reasons are, Pink? So far, no one's outright rejected the idea, or expressed any concerns or reasons not to join/form the group in the first place. I'm very interested to know why. Is it because you don't like me (I'm assuming you don't based on my personal perceptions, and could be wrong) or the people I've invited to be co-founders? In defense of that if these are the reasons, I'd like to let you know that I'll be doing my best to be an impartial manager, which is why I've been asking for other TK users to help with this; so it's not all controlled by me, and that people who don't like me won't feel like I'm some evil overlord who will discriminate against them. Being the founder of the group isn't even really an admin position since there's nothing administer. It really is just responding to requests of membership and gallery submissions. As for the people who have volunteered to help run the group? I don't know either of them personally, or on TK, but they did offer to help, and I won't turn them down. No one else has come forward with any offers of help, and because I want this to be a friendly community thing, I'd accept the help of anyone willing to give it. A personal dislike is the only reason I can think of for your flat out rejection and wanting nothing to do with this. Well, you might just not like DA either, I don't know. You seem like a very community minded person since you're so frequently active on these forums, so I'm puzzled as to why you wouldn't want to be a part of an extension of that community. I'm not trying to troll you or insult you or somehow win some kind of e-pissing contest with my inquiry. I'm genuninely curious to know why you want nothing to do with this TK on DA group. I gather that you're a fairly serious artist, so your opinion matters to me on this subject.

It's honestly because I'm so serious that I don't want to be in any way involved. I really don't want to have myself associated with the Keep or anything weird like that as I don't want to turn off potential employers.
Maybe for more lighthearted things like a webcomic or something, but I'm looking to surround myself on dA with other serious artists and artists better than myself. I have it...with a whole cross/promo multi site attack that I'm working up, and I just want to trim the fat in some areas so that I can be a better professional artist and act like it as well.
That and I don't have my dA to be social, so I wouldn't be of much help anyway. However, if it proves to be useful for me, or there's money in it, I'll probably change my tune really easily.
That and I'm mouthy and aggressive about art, so you don't want to see me at full, glowingly charming pink potential anyhow. :p

In that case, I understand and respect your decision fully, Pink. It'd be nice to have you onboard because you are so serious and dedicated, and BECAUSE you're mouthy and opinionated about art (I am too, so I know it's not a great way to make friends by telling them what you really think about this or that), and people like me really appreciate honest critiques of our work from people like you.
Never say never though! Potential epmployers might be interested to know that you've been associated with an RP site, or that you've done some freelance work for role players. (I've got a lot of interest in my work from people looking for art for games or characters through my association with RP, maybe not TK specifically...) or you might get some paid commission requests from fellow Keepers.
So, the group will be around if you ever feel joining it would suit your purposes, and I honestly wish you every success as a professional artist.
