There are certain words that we all know, that responsible, intelligent, and respectful people are smart enough to not vocalize, not only for the sorted history that the word carries, but as it offends some people's sensibilities. I've never been for flat-out censorship for moral purposes, but that doesn't mean flagrant use of blatantly offensive words should be tossed around freely and with reckless abandon. "Nigger" is one of those words that's only truly appropriate in the form of a story/joke confined to people who you know can understand/appreciate it for what it is without overreacting. I personally don't see how it has it's lace on a chatroom where people intentionally use it to get under one another's skin. Also, flagrant use of racism and even idolizing it like you do doesn't help anyone; if anything, it shows off as a sign of a really unintelligent person and does a disservice to you and those you associate with. |
