Firefox. All the way.Chrome doesn't work for me, and while it's fast as balls I use it only as a "shit I need a browser window up fast and I've closed firefox" browser. Never for tk.

Ok guys tell me...I have been using Chrome on my office PC for over a year.  This morning, after I started up the PC, a Windows Security box popped up and said I had a Security Problem that needed to be removed.  I clicked the Details button and saw that it was "PWS:Win32/Zbot".  I clicked the Remove button and restarted my PC.  Now I do not have Chrome.  It has been removed or uninstalled.  The Chrome.exe file is gone.  Was there really a problem, or is this just a way for Microsoft to stick it to Google?  If I reinstall Chome, will it have my bookmarks and other settings?  Not sure what to do about this, but I much prefer Chrome to Explorer.

I'll be honest, you probably shouldn't be using Microsoft's built in security suite. It's not that good. If you are connected to the net via a router it'll have a firewall built in that will be miles ahead of the software one that Microsoft windows comes with, but you can still use that if you like. For Anti-virus though you should use Avast!, because it's completely free and is actually really good. There's also AVG if you prefer.

As for Spyware detection and removal, you should use these program: Spybot: Search and Destroy and Spyware Blaster.

The first will detect and remove problems on your PC, the second will patch any security holes in your computer that Windows Update missed.

Always remember to keep your microsoft windows updated fully, because that'll stop a lot of things getting through too.

There we go. Entirely free security suite. Smiley

As for Chrome, I doubt it's microsoft being evil. It was probably something getting through the windows security systems and infecting Chrome. As I said, Windows Security isn't so hot. Hence my suggestions.

Happy computing.

^ All of this.

Also, I remember reading a bulletin a month or two ago saying that Chrome was giving Windows security a false positive for a trojan.

Here's an article about it one of my coworkers linked me to.

Good luck.

RP is a hobby; it is nothing more and nothing less. It is comparable to scrapbooking, model-railroad, gardening, etc. It is a self-indulgent, nigh narcissistic practice that yields no tangible benefits to anyone in any real, practical applications, and serves little more than to justify the egos of those involved, and occasionally impress someone who is equally self-indulgent and narcissistic. Taking it too seriously is a waste of time.
