Right off the bat, im gonna state that this thread is blood in the water. I will immediately get accused of "Butthurt" or "umad" or "Pot calling kettle black." but I actually want to bring this topic to the surface. I would also like to state that this is NOT about me, but TK population in general. I am aware of my status as "troll-bait." as well and this thread is prolly nothing but troll-bait but I want to convey this point.
What the hell has happened to TK?
When I first came on people "trolled" other people who actively deserved it (including myself.). It was not a rare occurence, but it was not done excessively and when it did happen it was hilariously entertaining, and had far greater quality than what we see today. Now peoples definition of who "deserves" to be trolled is relative but it was hardly if ever pre-emptive. Someone would come into a room, say something stupid and THEN people will troll. Now people "troll" right off the bat as if its the means to its own end, its like being a troll is like being a marine, people act like its some great internet honour lol.
Its even to the point where its akin too.
Step 1: Come into room say something ridiculous.
Step 2: Wait for anyone to reply no matter who it is or what they say.
Step 3: Say you're trolling.
or
Step 1: Get into debate.
Step2: Get proven wrong or made to look bad.
Step3: Say you were trolling.
(Btw its not trolling if you tell people you are trolling.)
I've even seen stated from people that. "Off the bat I troll people to see if they are worthy of being cool with me or fit my definition of 'tolerable'." ....lol
Does no one see how retarded and petty this is? TK is now more bout trolling, than it is about IC RP. I mean people act like its a sacred institution. Look at Manjio. He acts like being a troll is akin to being a jedi/samurai. Its an "ART" to him and many others, and ironically most of them (including him) dont even understand the concept. Most of the time its just used as an excuse or a convenient way to backpedal cause the concept has been "abused" so much on here.
My point is this. Its become juvenile, alot of times people just "troll" for absolutely no reason. Many folks will say "omg trolling isnt supposed to have a reason." but it kind of does need one otherwise like anything else it loses its luster. It basically become a crutch for people with weak personalities and little else to share. Now I will gladly take the divine wrath of the forum who will swiftly tell me why I am wrong, butthurt, hypocritical, Wolfderp etc and will ironically attempt too "troll" me.
Also I am aware of the ignore function, however at this point you would have to ignore more than half of TK.

I feel like this could be brought up in Javi's "art" thread. Is trolling really an art? Do we consider trolls artists? Do they provide relevant social commentary, aim to change something in their world, and provoke a visceral emotional response? All signs point to yes. Trolls are now considered artists. From this point forward, anyone who gets upset about trolling is just making a pitiful attempt to besmirch a budding artist. Keep up the good fight, trolls!  |

It is comparable to scrapbooking, model-railroad, gardening, etc. It is a self-indulgent, nigh narcissistic practice that yields no tangible benefits to anyone in any real, practical applications, and serves little more than to justify the egos of those involved, and occasionally impress someone who is equally self-indulgent and narcissistic. Trolling hasn't just become this way on TK. It's that way now all over the Internet. Trolling became "the cool thing" sometime in the past few years and it's no longer a means to an end—it is the end.
I don't think there's any way to deal with it except by ignoring the bait or enduring it until it dies down like every other fad.

It's not ironic for a troll to do what a troll does... invest in a dictionary. That being said, I'm kinda surprised I wasn't in this thread somewhere. People always call me a troll... Cause... you know... being an asshole = troll. I've really grown to hate the word troll... if you insult someone, you're a troll. Also... since being mean is trolling, I've always "preemptively trolled", It's not a new occurrence. I see stupid. I point it out.
