Tacei
Gender: | Female |
Ms. Tacei is notably the Rider of Duoth, God of Silence which makes a ‘hush’ motion from her more serious and potentially dangerous. It also made it easy for the former Scholar to decide what she would like to do following the more exciting six decades of being an archeologist and historian for the Towers. Her focus is still primarily on ancient texts of a more sinister nature and she has gathered many. It’s one of the reasons why the collection of forbidden texts at Ivy is so vast. She is bound to silence and she has been since birth. Mute and unable to vocalize any sound whatsoever. If anyone knows anything about Duoth, this is the consequence of being Marked by this God – tongue is split in two, giving it a more reptilian look and vocal cords are severed. As such, she rarely opens her mouth and has learned various methods of speaking without verbalizations. Typically, she uses expressions and gestures for simple responses. If more is needed, she uses a Phoenix feather quill which can open a telepathic channel with anyone, even those who do not know the skill. Ms. Tacei is a full-blooded Vayler which makes aging the woman difficult though a few fellow members of the faculty remember her when she was a student herself at the Red Tower. One she even had a rivalry with – mostly of a friendly nature, sometimes not. The Library is a large building on the south side of the island that seems to mimic the design of the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. Same domed observatory at the top floor, only with more glass and less brick and similar architecture throughout. Ms. Tacei often inhabits the front desk though there is the rare time when she is in her office and she is the best person to ask for assistance considering she spends the variety of her time in this building. In fact, the rumor is that she lives there. At the very least, she does take her position seriously. The other constant feature of the Library is Drakkon, a very large Jörmungandr Serpent with bright blue eyes and multicolored scales, very similar to the colorings of a bush viper. The serpent is, of course, the Librarian’s Muto and often spends time quietly slithering along the upper shelves itself if not coiled and sunning in the observatory when not assisting in the day-to-day transactions. The Muto is best known for assisting with the retrieval of books as well as guarding the access to the Forbidden Archives. Unless he is told otherwise by his Rider and only his Rider, none will pass by him. (Lucy Lawless is my Queen, my only Queen. That is all) |
